Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, 2020 hasn’t been activity-filled, but people certainly found their way to the golf course. In fact, according to many reports, rounds played this year are at an all-time high because of the social-distancing aspects embedded into the game. For those wanting to improve, the state-of-the-art Golf Learning Center at Casa de Campo Resort & Villas is ideal. Plus, it’s next to a “World Top 100” layout, Pete Dye’s iconic Teeth of the Dog.
The world-class facility is led by Eric Lillibridge, head professional and established instructor at the resort for over a decade. Highlighted by TrackMan and BODITRAK technology, it features two indoor hitting bays for rapid game improvement, year-round training, individual and group golf lessons and schools, and expert club-fitting and repair. Recently added to all TrackMan simulators were Casa de Campo’s Teeth of the Dog and Dye Fore courses, so guests now have the chance to hit exact shots prior to heading out to play.
Additionally, the resort has an exclusive partnership with Titleist for rental sets and purchasing options in their fully outfitted studio. The PGA Tour-quality facility resides on 21 acres of “pure grass,” and presents practice greens for putting, chipping and pitching as well as unlimited use of the pristine outdoor range for full shots. On-course instruction is also available on the resort’s three courses.
“We have a one-of-a-kind set up at the Golf Learning Center,” says Lillibridge. “We are blessed to be able to work with TrackMan and Titleist because both products are key for golfers looking to improve in a short amount of time.”
Players will learn extensively through TrackMan’s “Smash Factor.” The Smash Factor lets the golfer know how solidly they hit the ball and is also the key to improve one’s ball striking. The more a player can hit the ball in the middle of the club, the better the Smash Factor number. A golfer would hope to achieve a Smash Factor near 1.50 on drives.
The Golf Learning Center is also perfect for golfers to undergo a swing overhaul or focus on a particular detail to achieve full confidence. One easy way to improve a Smash Factor rating is to simply swing smoother. Contrary to what recent U.S. Open Champion Bryson DeChambeau might display, average golfers who lower their clubhead speed will see the ball velocity increase, resulting in more distance. Whether it’s hitting hundreds of seven irons until the club is mastered or a lesson completely focusing on feet positioning and weight transfer, there are endless opportunities to improve.
Casa de Campo continues to be a year-round oasis to relax and play the No. 1 course in the Caribbean as well as taking advantage of the world-class golf instruction. Guests can fine-tune their game before or after attacking Teeth of the Dog as well as two additional Pete Dye-designed gems: The Links and Dye Four. When playing in paradise there is no need to get frustrated, only improve and enjoy getting better before the next golf season begins.
