Name: Nora Angehrn
Coaching at: Golf Club Breitenloo (Zurich, Switzerland) / ASG (Swiss Golf Association)
TrackMan User since:
When and why did you start playing golf?
I started to play golf when I was 10 years old. Mainly because my parents played and they took me on the course on the Sundays where I first started to caddy for my dad and then was allowed to putt for him. Only later, I really became passionate about the game.
What is your HCP?
I turned Pro in 2004; my Hcp back then was +2.6 !
Which is your favorite golf course?
That is a tough question; there are so many great golf courses but favourite ones in Europe are Oitavos Dunes in Portugal, Kingsbarns in Scotland and Barsebäck in Sweden.
Do you have a favorite coach you follow and why?
I indeed have a couple of coaches I follow, i.e. the Vision 54 coaches, Pia Nillson and Lynn Mariott – I like their holistic approach to all aspects of the game. Then, I follow Andrew Rice and Martin Hall, they both are very well educated and have loads of experience; I appreciate their thorough knowledge but simple explanations of the numbers and data. For the short game I follow Viktor Gustavsson and last but not least I love the articles published by Altus Performance Team.
Who is your favorite player and why?
That is Annika Sörenstam; I admire her for what she has achieved in Women’s Golf. And I also admire Seve Ballesteros for his charisma and creativity in shot making.
What is your best golf related achievement?
As a player that would be my 3rd place in the Spanish Ladies Open on the Ladies European Tour in 2006 and my win on the Ladies Sunshine Tour the same year. As a coach it’s the 6th place at the 2009 European Girls Team Championship with the Swiss Team.
As a golf coach, what is the most common mistake among players you see?
Where should I start? I see loads of misconceptions and poor knowledge regarding ball flight. Another thing is insufficient fundamentals. And then of course bad practice habits or none at all!
What are your greatest professional strengths?
My constant ambition and quest to improve and further my knowledge are my strengths. In addition, my patience, knowledge of human nature and ability to understand golf players of all ages from juniors to seniors with all their individual golfing challenges as well as their personal issues.
What’s in your bag?
Driver: Ping i20
4-Wood: Ping Rapture V2
Hybrid: Ping i20
Irons: On Off Forged with Nippon 850GH Regular Shaft
Wedges: Ping Glide (58, 54)
Putter: Zai Senda Blade

How often do you play golf yourself?
Not as much as I wish! In wintertime I get to play more when I am on golf trips with clients. During the season (March-October) it is mostly just short game challenges at the end of trainings with my juniors.
What has changed since you started working with a TrackMan?
TrackMan made me realize how much impact location (Gear Effect) affects the ball speed, spin rate, spin axis and launch angle which all result in distance and direction. And now I can measure what I used to assume.
Which is your favourite TrackMan feature, and why?
I like the Optimizer, especially when using the driver. That way I can show the students what their ideal numbers would be within their potential. I am also a big fan of the Test Center, especially now that you can personalize tests.
How and where can golfers get in touch with you?
Through my website: www.noraangehrn.ch or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Do you have any suggestions, how TrackMan can do better or differently?
I would love to see a TrackMan Combine Test for Juniors; less shots than the full Combine Test but similar. On a personal note, I would love to be able to run TPS on my Mac without having to use Parallels!
Would you like to be the next TrackMan coach of the month?
All you have to do is sign up on TrackMan University and complete Level 1,
we will randomly pick a new coach every month.
