In the lead-up to the 2015 PLAYERS Championship, Golf Channel aired a special segment on TrackMan and debated the idea of whether it is possible to have too much data. Golf Channel’s Rich Lerner started the segment by stating, “One has emerged as a clear leader in swing and ball flight analysis”.
Hear what PGA TOUR professionals Ian Poulter, Hunter Mahan, Adam Scott, and others have to say about the data that TrackMan provides.
Tell us what you think. What is the most responsible way to use the data and how can you prevent “data overload”?
i don’t think Trackman detracts from the “touch” or “feel” components of anyone’s game…I do however believe that you can never get enough statistical data for you to analyze and incorporate into any constantly changing activity! You will find hard data that would have never been identified “with your eyes” without this technology! Sorry Butch!
Imagine interfacing this technology with a body mechanics analyzer to find what muscle in the body caused the changes in swing path or attack angle or changes in the club face. Or, as a surgeon, use it to identify why some players body mechanics and swing lead to disc disease or epicondylitis of the elbow…thoughts and uses are endless
