Decelerate To Accelerate

Drills | 4 | by TrackMan

TrackMan Master Chris Brook demonstrate how you can use K-West to optimize the kinematic sequence and how to transfer energy from each body segment to achieve maximum club speed at the ball.

    Hi Chris,
Did Bobby jones Moe Norman, use this similar movement, twisting of the hips
When I hit my driver. and put my whole body into my swing my feet are flying all over the place. My colleagues accuse me of reverse weight shift, or loss of balance. My answer
I don’t care where my feet end up, the ball is gone into the atmosphere.

One friend always comments , I never seem
Someone hit the all so far going backwards
The swing looks crazy, to on lookers
But I know when I swing that hard at a golf ball I go air born and land in all kind of places on the tee just to regain my balance

      Hi Rich

Often a person’s judgement of a swing is based mainly on the aesthetics. What technology allows us to do is to look at what’s “under the hood” to determine its effectiveness, leakage and whether the components “talk” to each other. If a golf swing looks good it doesn’t mean it is. If golfer’s really understood what reverse weight shift is I suspect that you would not here it mentioned. This is because when they are talking about weight shift they are more often than not getting it confused with pressure. Centre of mass and pressure are different. Aesthetically you can appear to be on the left when in fact the COM can be on the right. You can only properly determine weight and pressure with £20k pressure and 3D force plates.

My advise is only listen to comments from experts who measure and don’t guess.

        Hi Chris,
I’m a member of the TPI
I use the pressure plates and have been measured. I’m 19/76 on backswing

But 60/40 at impact and improving
I like your articles and concepts

I’ve seen videos of the hips decelerating,
Shoulders catch up club fires out

Would I be right in my statement

The action of the hips sets everything in motion. Is this action more physically demanding or less on the body

        Thanks
