We met with the World’s No. 1 Dustin Johnson at the range, during the 2017 WGC Mexico Tournament.
While Dustin was getting dialed in, he was kind enough to provide us with a few numbers. Well deserved, Dustin actually won the tournament, congratulations!
Please note that this tournament was played approximately 7500 ft above sea level, so the distances are crazy!
What are the conditions that can make DJ’s smash factor so high at 1.50 ?
Conditions probably don’t influence smash factor unless it’s really cold,or really hot so over all weather from 60 deg to 95 degrees wont effect solid ball contact which is what smash factor is. After that the elements kick in such as elevation how long the ball stays in the air humidity and air temp will effect how far the ball travel after initial impact just not so much the moment of. Really cold and the ball might be less elastic and lower the smash and really hot makes the ball live like 103 deg and could add to the smash.
