This is really interesting – would love to see the same type of analysis of the length of backswing. I think what we might find is that the length of backswing or finish isn’t as important as the speed generated and squareness of the shot.
There is no doubt some players are able to generate plenty of power with a relatively short backswing. For the best players it comes down to controlling direction sufficiently.

Would be interesting to see the same test but with the backsving being shorter, if it affects swing speed. Great stuff !!!
I like to think of the backswing motion as “loading a catapult”, if it isn’t loaded then speed cannot be generated. Hence a backswing where the hands travel back only to 8 o’clock for example, does not have the potential to generate as much speed as a backswing where the hands travel back to 11 o’clock.
