The wear on your wedge grooves affects your spin control.
The Vokey R&D team tested three levels of groove wear using a proprietary wedge robot at the Manchester Lane test facility.
The results?
Wedges with fresh grooves lead to more precise shots.
Thank you for your very helpful comments on fresh grooves. You mentioned impact on performance based on number of rounds but I wonder about practice. Using your wedge 10 times a round for 75 rounds is 750 shots and that is equivalent to 20 bags of balls. Should we factor in practice shots into the replacement plan. Thanks. Hank Holt
Hello, the same idea for me.
This article sounds more commercial than usually…
75 or 125 or 500 rounds mean nothing regarding number of strokes with the wedge in a round. A lot of shots in the sand or wedging on the grass can also influence,no?
First we can just change the head if it’s really necessary. What about aging of the wedge shaft.does it take a long time to turn in a more “regular” shafts?
Second question can we use a groove sharpener to restore the performance instead of changing? For Sunday golfers it can be a reliable and cheaper solution no?
Best regards
