What is Spin Loft?

Shauheen Nakhjavani, explaining a simplified version of the TrackMan Spin Loft, see why it might be better to look at Spin Loft rather than the actual Spin Rate number if you are trying to change your Spin Rate.

    Shauheen,

I’m still learning, and still have a lot to learn, about all the dynamics of a golf swing and I have to say thank you! This is an excellent and easy to understand explanation!

Thinking out loud to myself, but it doesn’t seem very easy to change the spin loft given this presentation. I had thought that hitting a ball with more velocity makes it spin more, ie a hard gap wedge will fly farther than a normal gap wedge but land with more spin. Anecdotally speaking, things like wind etc also will influence a ball, into the wind seems to generate a lot more spin than down wind.
